This petite mantel was carved from white marble and is highlighted with detailed and decorative inlay. A wreath-like infinity chain decorates the apron, and is framed by corner floral motifs. The same wreath like pattern runs down the top half of each leg ending as a narrow floral thread. This mantel also has an uncommonly narrow shelf which rises in slight, expanding tiers. A gently worn Crema Marfil marble hearth completes the fireplace.
This antique mantel was one of several mantels imported from Europe to furnish the historic Waldorf Astoria of NYC, which opened on October 1, 1931. This mantel is original to Room 25K and a Waldorf Astoria authenticity card is included with your purchase.
