Petite Louis XVI style brown, gray, and white veined marble mantel with oak leaf and acorn corner motifs above the fluted vertical supports. The horizontal apron is decorated with a carved pattern of overlapping circles. The mantel is marked “Made in France” and was imported to furnish the Waldorf Astoria, which opened on October 1, 1931. The mantel pieces are in very good to excellent condition, having some wear consistent with its age. This was original to suite 14-M of the historic hotel. A matching original hearth is included. A minor repair of a missing corner at the front of the hearth is necessary.
