A distinguished English Regency statuary marble mantel from the 1810s, complemented by a newly introduced hearth. The marble maintains its commendable condition, boasting captivating embellishments featuring playful dancing cherubs adorning the central panel, and dignified urns gracing each corner. This mantel was among a selection of antique mantels imported from Europe, subsequently incorporated into the design of the Waldorf Astoria hotel upon its inaugural construction along Park Avenue in the 1930s.
This specific mantel finds its origins within suite R on the 16th floor of the hotel, bestowing it with an exclusive provenance. While some slight damage occurred during the salvage process, we are happy to provide images upon request for your perusal. With your purchase, an authenticity card from the Waldorf Astoria will be included, reaffirming its historical significance. Presently, visual records of the mantel can be observed within the Waldorf Astoria’s premises; should you desire to explore its reclaimed condition, we invite you to request further information before finalizing your acquisition.
