Early 19th century English Regency statuary marble mantel. Detailed lines were carved along the apron and vertical supports. The center of the apron features a marble plaque with a carved urn motif. Crema Marfil marble hearth included. The installation at the Waldorf Astoria included 2 brick columns at the rear of the fireplace with the shelf extending on the sides, and at the rear, beyond the marble surround. The dimensions are reflected in this untypical detail. This mantel was one of several antique mantels imported from Europe and installed to decorate the historic Waldorf Astoria of New York City, which opened on October 1, 1931. This mantel was originally Suite A on the 9th floor.
Waldorf Astoria authenticity card included with your purchase.
